HOW IT ALL BEGAN...

Before moving to San Diego and starting UPGRADE, founder Dr. Jeremy Gaynier had practiced in Illinois as an associate doctor at a sports & rehabilitation clinic. He recalls, "The job started great! I loved my patients, colleagues, and the knowledge I learned from an exceptional clinic."

Over time while dealing with Chicago's harsh weather, commuting 3-4 hours to/from work, and no true long-term goals in sight, Dr. Gaynier's motivation and drive began to fatigue. Even his biggest supporter in life, his husband, saw his passion and love for life begin to dwindle. One day, his husband said, "Let's move to California."

DREAM OF CALIFORNICATION…

Dr. Gaynier had quit his job, left his family & friends, and moved across the country with absolutely no plan — only trust in his partner and hope. Once in California, he had started working two jobs, still with no long-term goals.

Then one day, he and his husband drove past a new building called The Hive in Hillcrest, which consisted of health and beauty suites. His husband encouraged them to view the building and planted the seed of starting his own practice. Dr. Gaynier spent the next two days with his mind racing and ideas overflowing. With a newfound sparked fire igniting from within, he proclaimed, "I finally started to feel the excitement in my heart and a drive I never felt before, then BAM! I signed the paperwork to rent a suite from the Hive."

BUILDING THE FOUNDATION…

Dr. Gaynier started asking himself the following questions: How did I want to run my practice? How was I going to be unique? How will I accomplish this? What would make me keep my passion, motivation, and drive without going on autopilot?

He knew he didn't want to be just another chiropractic office — always chasing people's pain and returning patients to their baseline. Dr. Gaynier wanted to be a practice that would enhance a patient's mental and physical potential and ultimately UPGRADE their quality of life to something bigger and better than they thought themselves. He expressed, "I wanted to push people to reach new higher goals, just like my husband did for me."

IF YOU BUILD IT, THEY WILL COME…

Immediately Dr. Gaynier began working on his vision: Listen • Care • Treat • Educate • Empower — to achieve this, he made a promise to listen, thoroughly exam, and provide an active plan for each patient that they could follow in and outside the office. Additionally, he wanted to spend more time with each patient and not conform to the 5-minute in/out adjustment norms that typical chiropractic offices follow.

As patients began to refer friends/family and return with warm hearts and hugs, Dr. Jeremy Gaynier's passion continued to be fueled. He realized it was his passion to help upgrade people's lives and provide a warm, loving and inviting environment.
